Your support and involvement is helping make the Commodore Trail the safe, beautiful, recreational Trail we all want it to be.
The Friends put our efforts into..
💪 Advocating for the best possible re-design of the Trail by engaging the community and retaining outside experts to ensure that the City and the County’s design solutions for Trail improvements are the best they can be. We push for the safest and most environmentally responsible designs. Sometimes, this means gathering thousands of petition signatures, and most often, it means sitting across the table from city planners and working through the issues.
👍 Working with the county to get immediate improvements for Trail safety issues such as pot-hole repairs, broken crossing signals, and debris removal.
🤝 Meeting with the Trail’s neighborhood groups, HOAs, schools, congregations and business owners to solicit input on what you want prioritized in the Trail’s future designs.
✏️ Attending local learning sessions, conferences and public meetings on the current best practices of multi-modal transportation design.
🌳 Prioritizing and protecting trees as part of the Miami Canopy Coalition.
🚴🏽♀️ Encouraging more daily use of the Trail to get around, including being a leading partner in the Grove’s bi-annual Walk, Bike & Roll to School Days.
📣 Sharing the Trail’s fascinating history through guided history tours.
🌺 Highlighting the area’s incredible flora & fauna during our annual Secret Garden Tour of Coconut Grove fundraiser.
🙌🏼 Connecting the community with free events along the Trail, such as the “Only in the Grove” Amateur Dog Show, shoreline clean-ups with Miami Waterkeeper, and Trail Trivia Nights.
We lead for the Commodore Trail
Emphasizing safety, beauty and functionality, Friends of the Commodore Trail advocate for improvement and upkeep of the Trail to ensure pedestrians, cyclists and motorists can enjoy all this historic route has to offer. We organize events, strengthen community and push governments to act.

Life On The Trail
Trail users love how the Trail balances four precious parts of life in Miami. Health, heritage, nature and neighbors form the focus points of the Friends’ Initiatives. Wherever your passions lie, you’ll find like-minded Friends coming together to create, share and preserve the best of Miami life. You can too.

Walk. Run. Bike. Play.
Experience the Commodore Trail in motion…the best way! The Trail connects you with neighbors, work, schools and parks. Everyone benefits along this active urban trail.

Nature
Dense trees and limestone cliffs meet Biscayne Bay throughout the Trail’s five-mile corridor. More than protectors, Friends of the Trail actively steward and expand these treasures for all.
